Meet Chloe

Updated pictures

Hi everyone its me Chloe. The last time you saw me I was barely able to keep my head up after a simple bath.  It’s been almost a month since I was rescued from my horrible situation.  Who would have thought that just simple love and care would make such a difference in my life. I had my second vet visit and everyone was so excited about how great I looked and about how much progress I had made in such a short time.  I had never really been given the chance to be a puppy and have now learned how to have fun. I play every chance I get whether it is with my new toys or with my fellow foster dogs.  I am extremely loving and realize that my foster family is helping me get better.  I have even started to enjoy the many baths my vet says I need to help with my recovery.  My foster family is also teaching me all about what it takes to be a wonderful family pet.  I now can walk on a leash, am crate trained and am on my way to being housebroken.  The best part of getting better is that my foster family can now give me lots of hugs and scratch behind my ears.   When they first found me, I was too sore to even be touched.  As you can see from my new pictures, my skin is starting to clear up.  I continue to need medicine several times a day, but my vet says that I will need less and less as time goes by.  I am so happy to be where I am right now, but to be adopted by a loving family would make my new life complete!

My name is Chloe and I am a 1 year old pit bull mix. I was rescued a week ago from a very sad situation. My current foster family got me from a man who was kind enough to save me from being shot by my owners. They were going to shoot me because I was sick. This good Samaritan could not afford the substantial vet bills that would be necessary to get me well. Thanks to Ruff Love Rescue and Sue Rogers, I have been given a second chance at life. I have been to a vet and am on my journey of recuperating. I have a very long and expensive road ahead of me. The cost of all my medications, vet visits and prescription shampoos have already added up quickly. When I was rescued, over 40% of my body was covered with a second degree infection caused by a severe case of demodectic mange. I have lost much of my hair and have open sores all over my body. Someone also poured motor oil on me which made things worse because it clogged my pores and irritated my skin more. To make things even worse, if they weren't already, I was covered in fleas and infected with ticks. I was just miserable!

My new foster family bathed me the first night they got me and you can see in one of my pictures how exhausted just a bath makes me. I am no longer tied to a chain and living in pain. Each day that goes by is a day that I continue to get better. I know I have a long way to go, but because of so many nice people, I am beginning to wag my tail and understand what unconditional love is all about.

Thank you so much for your help and taking the time to read my story. Keep your eye out for future pictures of me as I continue to get better.

Thank you, Chloe, Claudia and Jerry
